HireAccess understands that one of the most important ways we can get the height safety message through to industry is via training. WorkSafe NZ have introduced Best Practice Guidelines for Mobile Elevated Work Platforms which stipulate it is the employer or principals responsibility to ensure the operator is trained on the MEWP they will be using (preferring NZQA moderated training). HireAccess is also one of the only training providers who can provide practical assessments indoors with our large indoor facility – meaning we can provide theory & practical rail, hail or shine!
At HireAccess we provide 2 forms of MEWP training.
This course is unit standard based and is used to determine an operators “competency” with MEWP’s operation, safety & functionality. This is a nationally accepted level of training and the units are registered on the NZQA qualification register for each trainee on successful completion of the assessed units. The standards define the core requirements of competency and ensure a moderation process is in place. Unit Standards assessed for are;
*compulsory course which must be completed and passed before being able to sit any of the other standards
If your operators are trained, but need a quick refresher on the specifics of the machine they are operating, HireAccess can provide a representative to come down to site and give a comprehensive induction on the machine required. This induction is recorded and paperwork can be added to site files that support your efforts in maintaining supervision of operators to competency.
